Investigators Looking Over Death Scene

(BRISTOL, VA) – A suspicious death investigation is underway in Bristol, Virginia.

Officers have made entry into an apartment on Reedy Creek Road. The victim appears to be a middle-aged white male.

Police were called to the scene just after 10:30 this morning.

In a move that could determine partisan control of the chamber, Democrats announced they’re filing in districts where Republicans hold razor-thin leads. One district is in Northern Virginia and another in Newport News. Democratic gains earlier this month wiped out the Republicans’ near supermajority in the House.

Kingsport PD Searches For Lowe’s Shoplifter

(KINGSPORT) — Criminals need Christmas presents, too, and police in Kingsport say they’re looking for a man who stole more than $1,500 worth of loot from Lowe’s.

The shoplifter struck on November 22nd and he was caught on surveillance video at the store on West Stone Drive. He loaded up a cart with expensive tools and went right through the front door.

A loss prevention worker did confront the man as he was loading up some of the merchandise, but he fled in a maroon Ford Ranger pickup.

Bus Fire In Springfield

(SPRINGFIELD) — A bus transporting workers in Springfield catches fire, injuring 11 on board…Jim O’Reilly…

Emergency officials told reporters the bus was on Highway 49, when it overheated. 30 people were on board, as the blaze then started. All of the passengers exited the bus by the time police arrived…it took firefighters more than an hour to extinguish the flames.

Ex Patroller To Do Time

(NASHVILLE) — A retired Tennessee Highway Patrol sergeant is sentenced to 30 months in prison…Jim O’Reilly…

Ronald Strickland pled guilty to transporting a woman into the country illegally in U.S. District Court in Nashville in June. Strickland planned to smuggle the 22-year-old old woman from Honduras into the U.S. Prosecutors say he texted her in January 2016 about meeting for a sexual relationship. Strickland was found to have paid over eight thousand dollars for the woman.

Former Officer Sentenced

(NASHVILLE) — A retired Tennessee Highway Patrol sergeant is sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Ronald Strickland pled guilty to transporting a woman into the country illegally in U.S. District Court in Nashville in June.

Strickland planned to smuggle the 22-year-old old woman from Honduras into the U.S. Prosecutors say he texted her in January 2016 about meeting for a sexual relationship. Strickland was found to have paid over eight thousand dollars for the woman.

JC Mayor Not Running For Re-Election

(JOHNSON CITY) — Come this time next year there will be a new person occupying the mayoral role now that current Mayor David Tomita opted out of seeking re-election after one term.

In a statement Mayor Tomita announced he does not intend to run again in 2018 but he plans to complete his term as mayor.

Tomita is said to be running for the job of Washington County, Tenn. Trustee that’s currently held by Monty Treadway.

Man Breaks Into Uncle’s House, Steals Cell Phone

(JOHNSON CITY) — A Piney Flats man is under arrest for breaking and entering his uncle’s home on Wednesday.

Police say Alexander Cline kicked in the door at a home in the 300 block of University Parkway and stole his uncle’s cell phone.

Cline was arrested later in the day and booked into the Washington County, Tenn. Detention Center on $21,000 bond.

He is scheduled to be in General Sessions Court this afternoon.
