ETSU Board to Consider Fired Professor’s Appeal

(JOHNSON CITY) — The appeal of a former music teacher’s termination goes under review Tuesday.

Dr. David Champouillon was fired from East Tennessee State University in May after an internal investigation determined he had sexually harassed two faculty members and behaved inappropriatedly in front of other staff and students.

Champouillon appealed the decision, arguing in part that his comments were ‘protected free speech’.

The ETSU Executive Committee is scheduled to review the appeal Tuesday afternoon.
