Fire Charges Shelved

(NASHVILLE) – State arson charges are dropped against two teen boys authorities thought started the deadly Sevier County fires in November.

District Attorney General, James Dunn says the state couldn’t prove the original blaze inside the park that led to the November 28 disaster in Gatlinburg.

The Department of Justice will decide whether to pursue charges against any people alleged to have caused the fire.

Fourteen people died in the blaze, and more than 2,400 structures were burned or damaged. Total losses are estimated at $1 billion.
