Unicoi Co. Ambulance Provider Shaping Up

UNICOI COUNTY–Officials delay a decision on an embattled ambulance service provider.

The County Commission has been considering moving away from MedicOne over repeated contract violations. The commission tabled action following a Monday report from MedicOne’s new operations manager Jimmy Erwin, a 17-year veteran of the Unicoi County Sheriff’s Dept.

Since Feb. 10, MedicOne has repaired one inoperable ambulance and moved another into the county, bringing its total to four. Two new paramedics have been hired with six more applications pending.

The company is also setting up operations at a N. Main Ave. house that will comply with its service location requirements.
