Greene Co. Animal Control Suspends Intakes

GREENE COUNTY–Another Tri-Cities animal shelter is closed over fears of illness.

A sign posted to the door of Greene County’s James Eagle Animal Control facility says intakes have been halted until further notice. Officials say symptoms of canine parvovirus, or parvo, began showing up Jan. 13. Intake was suspended for at least two weeks starting this past Friday.

Five infected dogs were euthanized to prevent further spread of the disease.

Two Sullivan County shelters remain closed through this week after an outbreak of canine distemper.
