Unclaimed Property in the Billions

BRISTOL, VA — One in four residents in the state of Virginia has unclaimed property.

The Treasurer of Virginia says more than $2.5 billion in cash and valuables are currently in the treasury’s care.

Included in the belongings are a solid gold bar worth around $20,000 and a three-carat diamond ring.

The property comes from a variety of places such as insurance policies that beneficiaries are unaware of or dormant security boxes that banks turn over to the state.

Check the state’s website for any property that may belong to you.
