Students becoming pen pals with seniors

KINGSPORT, Tenn. — In our modern age of Twitter, texting and e-mail area schools are participating in a program where students communicate the old fashioned way – by putting pen to paper.

The Herald Courier reports students from Miller Perry Elementary School and John Adams Elementary School will participate in the PaperPal program sponsored by Domtar Corporation.

Residents of area senior citizen centers are matched with schools to develop pen pal relationships.

Miller Perry students will write with residents at Asbury Place and Wexford House while John Adams students are corresponding with those at the Kingsport Senior Center.
