Police chief resigns

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. — The Jonesborough Police Department is now searching for new chief now that Matt Hawkins tendered his resignation.

WCYB-TV reports that Hawkins said the choice was a difficult one and he considered his conduct as Police Chief “to be beyond reproach” but felt the move was right for his fellow officers.

Hawkins had been on paid administrative leave while an investigation was conducted into allegations from a former officer of harassment and a hostile work environment.
